Tyga got rockmelon, box milk, a cheese stick, love heart sandwiches with cream cheese (he told his teacher they were girl sandwiches!!), salami and olives.

Thursday 23rd February 2012

Lulu got left over fish fingers from dinner last night which she devoured!!  I popped a tub on mayonnaise with it.  She also got her box milk, lychees, mushrooms, salami and futt.

Tyga got corn, lychees, a pirate avocado sandwich, ham wrapped around pickle and cut up tomato and cucumber.

Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Found a bit of creativity overnight!  Lulu has a cream cheese love heart sandwich, dried pineapple (which for some reason Lulu calls pineapple nut or futt???), corn on the cob cut into rounds, cucumber slices and some watermelon.

Lulu has lost 3 teeth in the last month or two so all food is generally chopped a bit smaller than usual as she has no top front teeth at the moment!!!

Tuesday 21 February 2012

So the lunchbox brain drain has hit me!!  Lulu always says she wants an empty compartment in her lunchbox but I always think it looks unfinished but today I could not for the life of me think of something to go in the end compartment so she got her wish!

She got cherry fruit bread with butter, box milk, carrot and cucumber sticks and snow peas and some dried pineapple.  Nothing to exciting but still nutritious!

Monday 20 February 2012

Monday morning...what is in the fridge and the pantry????

Crackers with avocado, box milk, carrot sticks and fresh snow peas, rice balls and passionfruit.

Friday 17 February 2012

Boys versus girls in the lunchbox department!!!!

Tyga has carrot and cucumber sticks, pirate cheese sandwich, with extra cheese square off cuts from Lullu's cheese hearts, salami rolled around pickled cucumber and finally some rockmelon.

Lulu has cucumber, carrot and celery sticks, a cracker with avocado, love heart cheese, rockmelon and salami.

16 February 2012

I had to include Tyga's lunchbox today as I made him a "pirate sandwich"!  He loved it!  As well as babybel cheese, watermelon, strawberries, cucumber and olives.

Lulu had watermelon and strawberries, carrot, cucumber and cream cheese, babybel cheese, crackers and baby pickles.

15 February 2012

Avocado sandwiches, box milk, carrot, celery and baby pickles, cream cheese for dipping veggies into and a passionfruit.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!
Decided to make a love heart shaped sandwich for Lulu's lunchbox today so thought I'd shoe you a step by step....start off by making your sandwich as usual....

cut the crusts off......

...and cut a small square out of one corner....

...cut the two corners off the sides....

...and there you have your love heart sandwich!!!!!!

Add a little note to your valentine and surprise for them when they open their lunchbox!  I only wish I had been there to see her face when she saw it - maybe next year I can invent lunchbox cam and record it when she opens it up!!

So what did she have???  Box milk, a salmon and avocado sandwich, strawberries and raspberries and a pumpkin roll cut up into slices.

13 February 2012

Tyga and I went to the zoo while Lulu was at school, and we always take a lunchbox with us - we never get the take away food there and my kids have never known any different so I get none of the pester power!  I buy them a calippo as a treat and that seems to keep them happy.

So Lulu had for school frankfurts and tomato sauce, box milk and egg mayo sandwiches, passionfruit and fresh cucumber slices.

Tyga had an apple slinky, egg sandwiches (which I shared with him!) pretzels and rice biccies and some dried fruit - kiwi, pineapple and banana.  I get all my dried fruit from my local organic market on Sunday mornings in Frenchs Forest.

10 February 2012

Lulu's lunchbox today is a quick thrown together as I was super busy working.  but still nutritious and not filled with packaged pantry goods - I don't actually have nay of those at home!

So corn on the cob. snow peas and cucumber, cheese stick, crackers, box milk, salami and baby pickles and some orange slices.

9 February 2012

Tyga's lunchbox today...Lulu's must have been the same!  So what did they get?  Box milk, corn on the cob, a chicken drumstick, fresh cucumber, philadelphia cream cheese tub with crackers and some orange.

If you notice a pattern (for our new followers!) there is protein, veggies and fruit + a box milk for calcium and hydration.  I always try and tick those boxes then everything else is OK.

8 February 2012

Lulu has drama straight after school today so I've filled the lunchbox up to the brim as I won't be picking her up until 4.30pm.  So we have box milk, carrot sticks, snow peas cut in half, cucumber rounds, cream cheese tub for dipping veggies into, corn, raspberries and sausage rolls with tomato sauce.

She also has a morning tea box with a vegemite rice cracker, dried organic mango and pineapple and a mini packet of lavosh crackers.  Hopefully that will keep her full until dinner!!!

7 February 2012

Swimming carnival was on today so we didn't need a big box as it would be a half day only.  Corn on the cob, butterfly cheese sandwich, cucumber flowers and passionfruit.  It was the first time ever she didn't want a milk in her lunchbox.

And she came fourth in her race but there were only four entrants!!!  Reminds me of a story of a friend who when she was young entered a knitting competition (she was from the country - I'm not that old!) and came second.  The thing was she was the only entrant but her knitting was that bad they didn't feel it was worthy of a first prize!!!!

6 February 2012

New week...got to get thinking of some new ideas! But not today :)

Box milk, cheese sandwich with dog and kennel cutter, dried organic mango, cucumber stars, truffle salami (delicious!!!) and passionfruit.

3 February 2012

Tyga's lunchbox was far more interesting than Lulu's today and since for some reason the picture of hers won't upload, we have Tyga's!

Box milk, corn on the cob I cut into small rounds so easy to eat, cherry tomatoes, snow peas, dinosaur sandwiches with salmon and avocado, mini pickles (the technical term for them is cornichons) and some honeydew melon.

People often say to me that their kids would not eat so much food and most days the lunchbox is not empty but in the car on the way home from school  my two love finishing off what's left and then I don't have to worry about a snack for them when I get home.

2 February 2012

Well my little boy started school today and after watching me make and photograph his sister's lunchbox for as long as he can remember, we had to do his yesterday afternoon (apart from the sandwich which we did this morning) as he was so excited to be getting involved.  He was dressed and had his lunchbox out and ready this morning before I had even had a shower.  So I had to show you what he had....box milk, watermelon, honeydew melon, cucumber, snow peas, cherry tomatoes, pickles, olives and a salmon and avocado sandwich....he basically wanted everything we had in the fridge.  When he then announced he wanted corn as well I explained to him that tomorrow there would be another lunchbox and there was no need to have everything today!  He also wanted a sandwich cut into a dinosaur shape but we didn't have the room.

So there is the power of peer pressure.  Suddenly Lulu wanted her sandwich in a dinosaur shape too.

So Lulu had a box milk, dinosaur shaped salmon and avocado sandwiches, cucumber, raspberries (you can tell her Nana visited yesterday as she always brings Lulu raspberries!) and some home made mini sausage rolls.  Yum - I just had some of those for my lunch!!

Can't wait to see how Tyga (pronounced Tiger) went on his first day - almost time for pick up!

Dinosaur shape sandwich cutter is $3.90 from your local Homecare Representative - on the Northern Beaches of Sydney it's Caryn.  Check out the catalogue at homecare.com.au or contact her on 0405 321 806

1 February 2012

Day 2 and Lulu is so excited to be back at school. Was up early making sandwiches for a funeral and it always makes my kids hungry to come into the kitchen to platters of food.  So a little more up market on the sandwich front today as we had leftovers from catering!

Box milk (love this for the protein, calcium and hydration it provides all without needing refrigeration), a butterfly sandwich with egg mayo and smoked salmon, some fresh slices of cucumber, some rice left over from last night's takeaway (I use a melon baller to make the rice into balls so they become finger food) and a passionfruit - Lulu's favourite fruit.

Have a nutritious and delicious day everybody!
