Back to school for Tyga today so two lunchboxes to perve on - although I do try and make it easy on myself and make them as similar as their taste buds will allow!

First up is Lulu...navel orange peeled and separated into segments (less messy), salmon and avocado dinosaur sandwiches, a pig pastry from a kids party table class I taught and some of that delicious cucumber I have been getting from the markets.
Tyga has oranges plus kiwi fruit.  I keep the skin on the kiwi for extra fibre which works if they are sliced in thin rounds - can't fathom biting into an unpeeled kiwi!!  Then dinosaur salmon and avocado sandwiches with cherry tomatoes, a pastry pig, cucumber and some smoked olives!  Some people say my kids eat strange things but I let them taste anything they want (in the savoury department) and if they like it, hats off to them.  We went to the markets and there was a stall selling hot smoked salmon, chickens and olives. Smoked on the spot!  And I must agree with Tyga - they are delicious!

18 July 2012

I get so excited when my kids get thrilled at the prospect of grainy bread!  Makes me a very proud mum (especially since I certainly don't lead by example in this department!).  Lulu gobbled up her dinner the night before with gusto and said how much she loved it in no uncertain terms so she had a sandwich of leftovers - 2 fish fingers with coleslaw.  And she told me she couldn't wait until lunch time to eat her sandwich it was so yummy she had to have it for morning tea!  Such a change from last term where the food came home each day.  Now it is an empty lunchbox!

So because we did so well with the orange, dried pineapple and cucumber yesterday I played it safe and did the same again today.  Well it worked.  Now just have to try and see what I can give her tomorrow although I am working in the canteen so may shout her a canteen treat lunch - which is soup I make for the canteen so I know it is packed full of health and goodness!

17 July 2012

Well for give the lack of lunchboxes last term - Lulu decided she was not that hungry and barely ate much but back with a vengeance this term...mind you it is only day 1, but fingers crossed!

So today she had a drama class early and I suggested she have 2 sandwiches as she might be hungry.  And she sure was - lunchbox came back empty. YAY!!!  So what did she have...

Navel orange, 2 sandwiches (well our dinosaur cutter makes 2 dinos from 1 sandwich she had 4 dinosaurs but really only 2 sandwiches!) with smoked salmon and avocado then dried pineapple and fresh cucumber.  I have been getting fresh cucumber from our milkman at the organic markets on Sunday and let me say it is delicious.  So much more flavoursome than what I have been buying in the shops.

Remember to peel fruit where possible to make it more appealing - excuse the pun - to your child by being easier to eat!

7 March 2012

A nice full looking lunchbox...just the way I like it!!!

Passionfruit and mango, box milk, corn on the cob, cheese slices and biccies and some salami.  She has drama straight after school on Wednesday and I try and give her a super full box so she can snack on all her left overs after school before drama.

Tuesday 6 March 2012

A little bit better.  Lulu is getting more fussy as she gets older which is making it harder to make her lunchbox.  Challenge!!!

Avocado (am loving the shepherd avocados!!) box milk, and egg white, passionfruit and cucumber.  She didn't eat the egg because she said there was texta all over it. Der!!!! It was special for food texta!!!!

Monday 5 march 2012

This is probab;y the most pitiful lunchbox I have EVER done!!!!  It's the Monday Morning Blues lunchbox where I didn't even have a box milk to put in there :(

So we have a sad looking pirate cheese sandwich on oat bread, a corn on the cob, a passionfruit and mango.  So sad... but it came back empty which is good!!!

Friday 2 March 2012

Yes our lunchboxes have been invaded by pirates - even Lulu is asking for it as she is feeling left out.  Obviously love hearts are just not enough for a modern girl!!

Tygie has box milk, pirate avocado sandwich, pickled cucumber wrapped in prosciutto, pirate cucumbers, pirate red capsicum and some black olives/

Lulu has pirate cucumbers snow peas, box milk, a love heart cheese sandwich, fresh avocado (loving having the shepherd variety back in stores - a firm avocado that does not go brown easily)and a frankfurt.

Thursday 1 March 2012

So Tyga is really big on the pirate theme...practically will eat anything if it is pirate food!  So as well as rockmelon, box milk and frankfurts, I have given him pirate cucumber slice which he scoffed in no time at all!  Also some roasted pumpkin rice balls and olives and pickles.

Lulu had rockmelon (can you tell it was on special this week!), box milk, a cheese stick, rice balls and frankfurts with tomato sauce in a tub.

The rice balls I make are leftover risotto. Refrigerate until the next day then roll into balls and bake.  The kids love them!

Was making some corn cakes for a catering job so we have corn cakes, fresh cucumber slices, mushrooms, box milk, avocado wraps, plum and raspberries.

Monday 27 February 2012

Monday morning...if I haven't been to the shops it's always a real challenge but I did get some mountain bread so we have mountain bread wrap with avocado, cheese stick, box milk, rice crackers, cucumber and a plum.

Friday 24th February 2012

Tyga got rockmelon, box milk, a cheese stick, love heart sandwiches with cream cheese (he told his teacher they were girl sandwiches!!), salami and olives.

Thursday 23rd February 2012

Lulu got left over fish fingers from dinner last night which she devoured!!  I popped a tub on mayonnaise with it.  She also got her box milk, lychees, mushrooms, salami and futt.

Tyga got corn, lychees, a pirate avocado sandwich, ham wrapped around pickle and cut up tomato and cucumber.

Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Found a bit of creativity overnight!  Lulu has a cream cheese love heart sandwich, dried pineapple (which for some reason Lulu calls pineapple nut or futt???), corn on the cob cut into rounds, cucumber slices and some watermelon.

Lulu has lost 3 teeth in the last month or two so all food is generally chopped a bit smaller than usual as she has no top front teeth at the moment!!!

Tuesday 21 February 2012

So the lunchbox brain drain has hit me!!  Lulu always says she wants an empty compartment in her lunchbox but I always think it looks unfinished but today I could not for the life of me think of something to go in the end compartment so she got her wish!

She got cherry fruit bread with butter, box milk, carrot and cucumber sticks and snow peas and some dried pineapple.  Nothing to exciting but still nutritious!

Monday 20 February 2012

Monday morning...what is in the fridge and the pantry????

Crackers with avocado, box milk, carrot sticks and fresh snow peas, rice balls and passionfruit.

Friday 17 February 2012

Boys versus girls in the lunchbox department!!!!

Tyga has carrot and cucumber sticks, pirate cheese sandwich, with extra cheese square off cuts from Lullu's cheese hearts, salami rolled around pickled cucumber and finally some rockmelon.

Lulu has cucumber, carrot and celery sticks, a cracker with avocado, love heart cheese, rockmelon and salami.

I had to include Tyga's lunchbox today as I made him a "pirate sandwich"!  He loved it!  As well as babybel cheese, watermelon, strawberries, cucumber and olives.

Lulu had watermelon and strawberries, carrot, cucumber and cream cheese, babybel cheese, crackers and baby pickles.

15 February 2012

Avocado sandwiches, box milk, carrot, celery and baby pickles, cream cheese for dipping veggies into and a passionfruit.

14 February 2012

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!
Decided to make a love heart shaped sandwich for Lulu's lunchbox today so thought I'd shoe you a step by step....start off by making your sandwich as usual....

cut the crusts off......

...and cut a small square out of one corner....

...cut the two corners off the sides....

...and there you have your love heart sandwich!!!!!!

Add a little note to your valentine and surprise for them when they open their lunchbox!  I only wish I had been there to see her face when she saw it - maybe next year I can invent lunchbox cam and record it when she opens it up!!

So what did she have???  Box milk, a salmon and avocado sandwich, strawberries and raspberries and a pumpkin roll cut up into slices.
